About

GamerzGeek is a small site with one job: put a game in front of you in under five seconds, and then explain the parts of it you cannot figure out on your own.

What this site is

Most game sites are built to hold your attention for as long as possible. This one is built to get you playing as fast as possible. There is no news feed — a personal site cannot compete with a newsroom, and pretending otherwise produces a page nobody trusts. What is here instead is a short list of games you can play immediately, and the specific answers to the specific problems those games create.

What is here

  • Play Games — Open-source browser games, self-hosted and playable in the page. No downloads, no accounts, no ads.
  • Guides — Stuck points, obscure mechanics and setup notes — the specific problem you searched for, answered.
  • Retro Gear — Handhelds, controllers and the settings that make old hardware behave.
  • Reviews — Longer verdicts on indie and retro releases, filed away until you go looking.

Reviews are deliberately not in the navigation. They are the oldest part of the site and the least useful to someone who arrived looking for something to play, so they live in the archive and you reach them from the homepage if you want them.

Where the games come from

Every playable game here is an open-source project written by somebody else, released under the MIT licence or the GNU GPL, and served from this domain as static files. Nothing is embedded from another site, and nothing is a ROM or a scraped copy.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. A game iframed from somebody else’s server can vanish without warning, and the page hosting it earns nothing from the content. Self-hosting means the games keep working, the licence files ship alongside the code, and every change we make to an upstream build is written down in public.

Several of these projects arrived carrying third-party analytics, advertising scripts or remote asset loads. We removed all of it. Thecredits page lists every game, who wrote it, what it is licensed under, and exactly what we changed.

Zero-Install & Clean Web Gaming

Our game collection focuses entirely on client-side execution using clean HTML5 canvas and WebAssembly standards. There are no installers, no Flash dependencies, and no runtime trackers.

What makes GamerzGeek distinct is the absence of commercial bloat: no redirect chains, no interstitials, no ad-walls, and no third-party trackers. Every title is served directly from local assets for instantaneous, distraction-free gameplay.

Ads, tracking and cookies

There are none. No advertising, no analytics, no affiliate links, no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to. Nothing you read or play here has been paid for by anyone except us. If that ever changes, this page will say so before anything else does.

How the site is built

It is a static site. Every page is generated ahead of time, and the only client-side JavaScript anywhere on the domain runs on the search page and on the game pages — where it is the game. Article cover art is generated procedurally from each page’s identifier rather than sourced from a stock library.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we fix it and note the change at the bottom of the page rather than quietly editing it. Guides that cover hardware get updated when the software they describe changes, because that is where this kind of writing usually rots.

If you hold the rights to something on this site and want the attribution worded differently, or want it gone, say so and it will be done without an argument.
